Case:
A builder/developer planned a multi-unit townhome structure for a pre-developed property purchased without information about the soil conditions. Exploration revealed less than optimum conditions and the need for a remedial program or deep foundations. After a careful analysis of the recommended alternatives the builder selected a deep foundation of drilled piers. The piers were designed with sufficient capacity balanced with the most economical structure transfer system thus minimizing additional costs. Project schedule never changed.
